Tactile/Plurals

Title: Learning Plurals through tactile activities

Allowing students to see the names of different singular nouns and matching them to their plurals allows students to have a hands on activity. Allowing students to become more familiar with singular and plurals words will benefit each student. Sometimes seeing the touching the word will help students distingish the difference between singular and plural forms of the word.

Title: word blocks

Idea: Word blocks: the word blocks will help students be able to use their hands to connect the word blocks together to the proper plural ending.

block 1 + block 2 = plural word

cow + s = cows

The first part of the words are seperated from the y's to make it easier to "drop" the y and add ies.

Title: Plural Concentration
Idea: The teacher is to create pairs of words. The first part of the pair is to be a singular version of the word, while the second part of the pair is the plural version.  These words are recorded on the front of two separate cards with a matching symbol on the back side. Arrange students into small groups (the smaller the better). Each student gets one turn to guess an appropriate single/plural pair. When a student makes a guess, he or she then flips the two cards over to see if they are a match.  If correct, the student may take the pair of cards. Otherwise, the student flips the cards back over to the front and allows the next student to guess. No matter the outcome, it is always the next person's turn guess (no going twice if there is a match). The player with the most pairs at the end wins.
