Kinesthetic/Vowels Title: Body Vowels Idea: We will have our students form the vowels with their bodies. They will lay on the ground forming each vowel and the teacher will take a digital picture of it. They can then make a vowel book from the pictures. Resource:

Then they will switch and the partner will draw with their finger on the others back. Each student will guess what vowel is being drawn on their back.
Category: Word Recognition Title: Rubber Band/Vowel Stretch Stretching wide, heavy rubber bands while practicing the lengthened vowels can provide students with a kinesthetic focusing tool to reinforce the contrast in duration of the vowel. To do this, stretch a wide rubber band between thumbs or fingers on two hands to demonstrate the vowel length distinction. Resource:
Activities for the Kinesthetic learner Have the child trace the outline, or configuration, of each vowel to help your child feel the vowels. Have a sheet of paper with all the vowels. Have each vowel with a different texture. Have the child trace the texture. After tracing the texture the child could clap for a, jump for e, stomp for I, wiggle their hand for O, and turn around for u. The child could do that when they are working with vowels. After saying the world, have the child close their eyes and write the word with her finger in the air while spelling it out loud. Have the child stamp for vowels and clap for consonants while spelling each word out loud. Spelling maybe reinforced with writing the same word with different colors on top of a correctly spelled word, while spelling out loud.
